Our Roof Painting Process Starts With an Inspection

Preparation, Repairs and Priming
Our prep is the most important stage of this process. Depending on the type of roof you have, we will adjust our method. Whether it's a steel or tiled roof, we have the right plan for you. Most jobs run through a similar process, starting with a chemical wash, followed by a pressure wash. All the prep goes next: rust or tile repair. Once all the prep is done, the first primer coat goes on. Following that a defect check is undertaken; if another primer is needed it will be applied, if not it is followed by two top coats of Resene's roof painting system.
Colour Choice and Spray Application
We will work with you regarding colour choices. If you have something you are happy with that is functioning well, or you're after something different, we will discuss it with you and follow Resene's code as well as our professional recommendations. These coats are applied using an airless spray gun, handled by our team of professional roof painters who have been painting roofs for over 10 years. Yes, we do offer a pressure washing service. This is always undertaken before any roof service job begins, in order to get the best adhesion when prepping, priming and top coating. This will be clearly stated in your quote, which is itemised, giving you a clear breakdown of prices. If however we decide this is a larger service which requires a unique set of skills, we do work with pressure washing companies who will come in and get your roof ready for us. Naturally this will be discussed and agreed with you beforehand.

Scaffolding is not necessarily a requirement for every roof painting job we do. However, in some instances, depending on the pitch of the roof, or for other safety precautions, we will require scaffolding to be installed before we are able to work on your roof. This will be discussed during our initial inspection. We do work regularly with Auckland scaffolding companies so this can be organised and supplied by us, saving you the hassle of extra work and expenses.

Yes. If rust is present on your roof, we will treat it immediately before going ahead with any priming or top coats. Our rust treatment includes removing all visible rust and applying special metal primers to prevent that area from rusting again as best possible. This is then treated again with our standard roof primers and covered with 2-3 top coats. Protecting your roof as best possible. This procedure also occurs on rusted screws or screw heads, where we will replace the screws themselves, apply specific primers followed by our roof primer and 2-3 top coats.
