Spraying a roof properly is a skill, and it is the part of your house the whole street can see for the next decade. Done right, a sprayed finish lays down completely even — no brush marks, no roller stipple, no heavy bands where someone overlapped a run. We set the gun for the coating and the conditions on the day, hold a wet edge the length of the roof, and work it in a consistent pattern so the film builds to the same thickness everywhere. That evenness is the difference between a roof that looks new and a roof that looks painted.
None of it counts without the preparation underneath. This roof was washed in two stages: a chemical wash first to kill the moss and lichen at the root, then a pressure wash to take it all off. Skip the chemical and just blast it, and the growth comes back up through a brand-new coating within a season. Then a primer to bond to the steel, and two full top coats over the top of it.
Thirteen years and more than six hundred jobs teaches you to plan around the weather instead of hoping. Spraying wants a dry, still window — so we waited for one, and then used it properly. Everything downwind of the gun was masked and protected, the roof was washed, primed, coated and finished inside two clear days, and the site was left clean at the end of each of them. On time, no mess, and no surprises added to the bill.
The owners were stoked with it. A roof that had been letting the place down now lifts the whole property, and it is protected for years rather than months. That is the result we are after on every roof we recoat — and on this one, the view was a bonus.
