New builds look like the easy version of a paint job. Clean surfaces, nothing to scrape, no rot. In practice the painting is the part that gets squeezed, and it's the part everyone looks at.
Here's how we approach it — whether you're building them or living in one.
If you're a builder or developer
By the time we're on site you've done the hard part, and none of it is what the client inspects. What they inspect is the paint. A good build with an average paint job reads as an average build, and that's your reputation, not ours. We work like we understand that.
We fit your programme. We'd rather be in early — interiors before flooring and fit-off, where the work is faster and cleaner for everyone, and new exterior timber primed promptly instead of greying off while it waits. When your dates move, and they will, we re-sequence with you.
We communicate with the trades around us. Most friction on a build isn't workmanship, it's two trades in one space with different assumptions. So we agree the boundaries up front, mask properly, protect other people's finished work, and don't leave gear blocking access. We check before you get a snag list. Multiple checks through the job, not one look at the end. Before we call anything finished we go over it under raking light — angled work lighting that shows up what a ceiling light hides. Handover happens in daylight with a client looking hard, so we'd rather find it first. Then we walk the job with you room by room, and anything on your list gets done before we're off site.
One point of contact. Abdi quotes and manages every job personally, so you're dealing with someone who can decide on site. Single builds through to multi-unit developments where the same finish has to land identically across every unit.
And if we find something during prep that looks like a build issue rather than a paint issue, we stop and tell you. Faster for us to coat over it, much bigger problem for you at the eleven-month mark.
We're not satisfied until you are — including the touch-up round after the house settles, without needing to be chased for it.
If you're the homeowner
Having a house built should be exciting. Dealing with the trades usually isn't. That's the part we're determined to get right, because the painting is the last thing that happens to your home and the first thing you'll notice every day afterwards.
It starts with the colours. We sit down with you properly, bring samples to the house, and look at them in the actual rooms and the actual light rather than under a showroom bulb. Colours behave differently on a north-facing wall than a south-facing one, and a shade that looked perfect on a chip can look completely wrong at scale. There's no pressure and no rush — we'd far rather spend an extra hour now than repaint a room later.
You won't be stuck in the middle. There's a builder involved as well as us, and you shouldn't have to relay messages between the two. We talk to your builder directly, agree the sequence with them, and keep you across what's happening and when. You'll always know who's in your house, what they're doing, and what comes next.
Raise anything, any time. If something isn't right, or you've simply changed your mind, tell us. You'll get a straight answer rather than a defensive one, and it gets dealt with while we're still on site. Small concerns are cheap to fix early and expensive to fix once we've packed up, so we'd much rather hear them.
No corners cut, whatever the programme says. Build timelines slip and the painter is usually where the time gets clawed back. Not with us. The preparation doesn't shrink to hit a date, because prep is the only thing that decides whether the finish still looks right in ten years.
The job isn't finished until you say it is. We check our own work at multiple stages, then walk through the whole house with you room by room. Anything you flag gets done before we leave. Then, once the house has settled through its first year, we come back for the touch-up round — you won't have to chase us for it.
